ROCKY BAY BREWING COMPANY

The Rocky Bay Brewing Company is owned by John Swan, with Rich Ruggiero and Terry Sprowl brewing. Rich studied brewing at the Siebel Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1995. After working at Neptune Brewing and James Bay Brewing in New York, both as a brewer and start-up consultant, he moved to Maine in
1997 to operate Rocky Bay Brewing Company.

Rocky Bay was opened in 1997 in Rockland Maine. Our wide variety of brewing styles quickly became some of the midcoast's favorites. Rocky Bay covers a full spectrum of beers, from light lager to full-bodied ales. Working in a small capacity brewery, we produce our beer in small, hand-crafted 7 bbl batches on a steam fired brewhouse. The brewery features its own retail store and sampling bar. We are located on Route1 in the heart of Midcoast Maine, and open 9-5, Mon.-Sat.

BEER SELECTION
Black Castle Ale is a scottish style 80 schilling ale developed by john's other redheaded daughter carrie. Light and malty with a clean hop finish, it is brewed with edinburgh ale yeast for an authentic taste of the british isles. Foghorn Ale is a sweet, slightly roasted, full-bodied ale brewed in the centuries-old tradition of english brown ales. Foghorn ale is relatively new to the rocky bay lineup, but is quickly becoming a local favorite.
Schooner Point Lager is our lightest and most popular beer. It is an easy-drinking, dry lager brewed with light-colored malts, german lager yeast, and saaz hops. Nor'easter Stout is a sweet oatmeal stout brewed in the style of old england. Our darkest beer, it balances a roasted, chocolate flavor with a smooth sweetness. It is brewed with authentic english malt and hops.
Katie's celtic red ale is named after one of john's redheaded daughters and is our st. Patrick's day seasonal. It combines a sweet, caramel flavor with light hop bitterness to produce a flavorful yet easy-drinking beer.
Whitecap Ale is a genuine american pale ale. It is an amber-colored beer with distinctive hop flavor and aroma. This beer combines american light and caramel malts with american ale yeast and west coast hops. Seasider Oktoberfest is a deep amber octoberfest / märzen style lager. It features a sweet malty aroma balanced with the crisp bitterness and subtle finish of german hops. A true lager, seasider is aged for six weeks. This beer has become a classic in the rockland community, especially during those long, cold fall and winter months.
Blueberry Soda is a celebration of maine's blueberry growing heritage and rockland's own annual blues festival. We hope that blueberry lovers everywhere will enjoy our contribution to the tastes of maine.
